Caitlin Buchanan (16 months)
Hi Jacqui,
I thought that I would just provide you with an update on Caitlin's progress on the Baby Love program.
She is doing very well at the moment. She sleeps for 1½ hours in the morning and almost 1½ hours in the afternoon. She has been sleeping through in the night for a while now. Sometimes she wakes up early like at 5h30 but she doesn't cry - she babbles for 30 min but at 6am on the dot she starts calling for us.
Then there are the days when I need to wake her up at 6am! Overall, the difference in her has been amazing. She is not so grumpy and developmentally has come on so much since her sleeping issues were sorted out. Nap times and night times are no longer a stress for us. She is more than happy to take her nap and go to bed at night. She doesn't always fall asleep immediately but she is contented to lie there playing with her dummies until she does. I think the introduction of a routine has had such a positive impact on her.
Like you suggested, we stuck to our routine for 21 days to ensure it was working naturally, and this past Saturday we went back to attending Clamber Club, which is from 9h00 - 10h30. Caitlin's first class since implementation of the routine and we were curious as to what would happen.
Predictably she fell asleep at 10h45 on the way home and had been sleeping for 15 minutes by the time she was put into her cot. We weren't sure what to do so we just left her to sleep. She woke up at 13h00 and then we didn't give her another nap. She was ok for the rest of the day but by no means ready for a 1 nap a day. I think this may become our Saturday routine but it will take a few Saturdays to see if I am right. Sticking to the routine like glue for the 21 days has certainly paid off.
Thank you,
Louise Buchanan
