Grace Mkhwanazi (8 months)

Grace was a very poor sleeper from the beginning! She was up all night long and day sleeps were an hour long on a good day. By 5 months we were barely surviving but did not know what to do and many people told us it was normal for her to not be sleeping through the night (or even anything close to that) We were still only getting about a 4 hour stretch at best. By 9 months I was on my way to losing my mind! My husband and I were never able to connect because we were so tired, my toddler was acting our due to not getting enough attention and me snapping at her in exhausted frustration. We tried everything to get this child to sleep!! Finally as a last ditch effort we called Fatima. We met with her the next day and she went over the program with us. I was very hesitant to do it because it involved letting her cry a little and I was terrified of that. But we were desperate so we started that night. The following night she went to sleep by herself without crying and slept through the night! It was amazing. From then on we still had some difficulties with day sleeps and that took a week or so to sort out but she was still sleeping through. It was almost like she was just waiting for us to be firm with her and make a schedule. Fatima was very supportive on the difficult days, and helpful on days when the routine was thrown off for whatever reason. We aways thought that Grace was a fussy baby, and I realized that she actually was not fussy, she was just tired. Now that she is sleeping she is very happy, contact, and enjoyable! My only regret was that we did not do it sooner. It was the best money ever spent. Getting Grace to be able to sleep on her own was a life changer, and probably saved our family!
